The Oxford English Dictionary provides six definitions for “the act of confessing.” Five use negative language: “humiliating,” “against,” “sin,” “concession.” The last definition revolts.
Confession, the act of confessing: The recognizing or acknowledging (of a person or thing) as having a certain character or certain claims; declaration of belief in or adhesion to; acknowledgement, profession, avowal when asked.
