Imago dei II.

“I guess I can’t figure out yet how to explain it or what to say — maybe, for all of us, does it go back to ‘created in his own image, in the image of God he created them?’ That part’s true, anyway: the creativity, the gravity, the wit.”

Those who believe that they believe in God, but without passion in their hearts, without anguish in mind, without uncertainty, without doubt, without an element of despair even in their consolation, believe only in the God idea, not God himself.
Miguel de Unamuno

Christmas: hats and tacos, peers (more blissfully than in ages), and thought.

The people made Christmas — strange gifts, tacos (with Sprouted Kitchen mango guacamole!), endless games of cats’ cradle, and really good, rare conversation in St. Louis’s sidewalks, stadiums, and hotels.

Still circling in my head is the wonder of being the image and the familiar of God. Merry Christmas. Happy 2013.
